THE CONCEPT:
The overarching design concept is to create a café space located on Griffith University where guests feel comfortable and calm, a space that feels like an escape from the university. A space where you can feel at peace either being solo, or with a group, but ultimately a place of tranquillity.
THE NARRATIVE:
The inspiration and overall theme of this space is to focus on earthy colour tones, this colour scheme is ideal for relaxed and welcoming environments. I will also be focusing on using a primarily wooden interior, this has many benefits, including many stress-relieving effects, this encompasses, relaxation, which can lower blood-pressure and pulse rate, it can reduce tension and fatigue, it can regulate humidity and improve air quality, and improve acoustics.
This concept relates to the establishment through the use of materials and colour schemes, as well as the functionality of the space, a coffee shop, which will be used by the intended target audience which incorporates students, tutors, hospital patients and staff, and local Southport residents.
